International students: entry requirements and application details

If you are considering the entry requirements and application details associated with your degree it is recommended that you become familiar with the Applications and Offers Process for ANU.

All applicants must also meet the University’s English language requirements.

Undergraduate degrees

Entry requirements

The entry scores required for degrees in the College using a number of international qualifications are available.

Application details

To apply for an undergraduate degree in the College you need to submit an online application. If you are an international student who is currently studying an Australian Year 12, an International Baccalaureate or a New Zealand NCEA Level 3 you need to apply through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) International.

Degrees in the School of Art and School of Music have additional application requirements.

Postgraduate coursework degrees

Entry requirements

Entry to postgraduate coursework degrees in the College is as follows:

  • Graduate Certificates: Applicants should have a three year Bachelors degree from an Australian tertiary institution or international equivalent. Applicants without a first degree, but with relevant professional experience and appropriate prior learning, will be eligible for admission.
  • Master degrees: Applicants should have a four year Bachelors degree, either as Honours or a combined degree, from an Australian tertiary institution or international equivalent. Equivalence may be met by the completion of the relevant Graduate Certificate.
  • Master (research degrees): Applicants must have completed the equivalent Master degree with a minimum 70% course average.

To apply for a postgraduate coursework degree in the College you need to submit an online application. Degrees in the School of Art and School of Music have additional application requirements.

Higher degrees by research

Entry requirements

Entry to a higher degree by research usually requires that you have completed an Honours degree or equivalent prior studies, such as a Master degree with a research component. It is assumed that your prior studies is in an area that is similar to the field in which you would like to conduct your research.

Application details

To apply for a higher degree by research in the College you need to identify a suitable supervisor. You can do this by searching the ANU Researchers database or submitting a higher degree by research enquiry.

Once you have identified a supervisor you can apply online.

Applications for higher degrees by research are open throughout the year.
