The College is beginning a tradition of celebrating and welcoming incoming Professorial appointments and our staff appointed to Level E with a Lecture series focussed on the work of recent level E appointments.

The first CASS Inaugural Professorial Lecture celebrated Christian Barry of the School of Philosophy, Research School of Social Sciences.

Responding to Global Poverty: Harm, Responsibility, and Agency

  • What is the nature of our responsibilities to poor people abroad?
  • How much can these responsibilities demand of us?
  • What are the implications of our failing to do what we ought to do?

This lecture explored these questions and proposed some answers.
