The short films of 109 ANU students have been presented to the National Film and Sound Archive's (NFSA) ARC Cinema as part of a special program showcasing the works of School of Art students.

Under the Image in Transition collaborative program between the School of Art and NFSA, students spend a semester creating short films from digital animations to stop-motions or cartoon story boards.

The films must be no more than one minute long.

The program also provides first-year students with the chance to connect with staff and the Film and Sound Archive.

"I am particularly happy to see 14 works selected to be included into the National Film and Sound Archive's collection," said School of Art Senior Lecturer Gilbert Riedelbauch.

"It is a clear tribute to the quality of the works."

This year's group is the sixth to participate in the program.

"Partnering with the ANU is important for the NFSA," said NFSA General Manager of Collection, Meg Labrum.

"The Image in Transition initiative gives us the opportunity to work with enthusiastic young students and ANU creative staff to reveal the wonderful national audiovisual collection, to stimulate their interest and awareness of these aspects of modern creative design and to welcome their exciting new works into the archives' Arc Cinema."

More details on the Image in Transition program can be found on the ANU School of Art website.
