Welcome

Welcome to the ANU School of Humanities

We are a diverse community of scholars with a passionate commitment to excellence in teaching and research. The School has approximately 35 academic and administrative staff responsible for seven undergraduate teaching programs and a raft of postgraduate programs (research and coursework). We are also fortunate to have a strong cohort of Visiting Fellows who play a key role in the intellectual life of the School. Our activities range from classroom teaching to seminars and high-level conferences, internationally recognized publications and community-acclaimed creative works, outreach activities, collaborations with national cultural institutions as well as interventions in the public domain.

Central to our collective endeavour are the questions of what it means to be human, and how to define, analyse and communicate the multifaceted aspects of the human condition in a changing world. As Humanities scholars, we value the process of discovery as much as the knowledge acquired. We believe in the value of intellectual pursuits and are committed to the aim of communicating in diverse ways to our various constituencies.

Whether you are a prospective student considering the ANU for your education, an alumnus looking for the latest news, or an academic colleague seeking to engage with our people and resources, we welcome you to our community through this website. We also look forward to meeting you in person, on the beautiful grounds of the ANU campus.
