Ways of knowing: creating, locating and evaluating evidence

Hear from a diverse panel considering the different ways of coming to know and present evidence to inform. Formal research is only one type of evidence and you’ll hear from people working in policy-making, data science, climate change, politics, and communication. The intended audience is consumers of research and lay producers of information—general public, non-for-profit organisations, business, policy-makers, public servants, media, researchers and academics.

This event is part of the Citizen Social Scientist seminar series hosted by the ANU Centre for Social Research and Methods. The Citizen Social Scientists series seeks to encourage public discussion and promote awareness about data and methods of social research.

The seminar will be held in Canberra on Wednesday 18 July 2-4pm. The seminar itself will run for 90 minutes (comprising panel presentations and audience Q&A), followed by 30 minutes for tea/coffee and mingling afterwards.
