Awards and PrizesThe ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences Teaching and Learning Awards are to recognise and encourage excellence in both coursework teaching and research supervision within the College of Arts & Social Sciences. In 2009 there are four awards being offered by the College with $1000 each in prize money. |

Award for Teaching Excellence
This award gives recognition to teachers renowned for the excellence of their teaching and who have made a broad and deep contribution to enhancing the quality of teaching and learning in the College.
For individual academic staff or teams of academic staff.

Award for Excellence in Supervision
This award recognises a sustained record of strong and innovative commitment to students, and best practice in introducing students to research and research networks.

Award for Excellence in Tutoring
This award recognises exceptionally motivating, inspiring and inclusive teaching in small group settings and support of individual student learning.
For individual academic staff or teams of academic staff.

Award for Program that Enhances Student Learning
This award recognises learning and teaching support programs that make an outstanding contribution to the quality of student learning and the quality of the student experience in the College.
For programs provided by academic staff and general staff, as individuals or in teams.

Award Process
Nominations
Staff may be nominated by students, colleagues or by self-nomination, and nominators should be prepared to make a short supporting statement with their nomination.
Nominations closed 23 October 2009.
Applications
Nominated staff will be invited to prepare a portfolio and apply for the award(s) for which they were nominated.
Portfolios should include:
- a written statement addressing the Selection Criteria (1-2 Pages);
- a Curriculum Vitae (1-2 pages);
- evidence, validation e.g. CEDAM ANUSET Evaluation summary pages, and;
- (Optional) a reference from someone who is able to comment on the nominees teaching against the criteria.

Applications close 6 November 2009.
Deliberation
A Selection Committee will meet to consider the Applicants for each award and to determine the Awardees.
ANU Vice-Chancellor's Awards for Excellence in Education
Please note that the CASS Teaching and Learning Awards are separate from the ANU Vice-Chancellor’s Teaching Awards, though the award categories are similar. If you would like to nominate a staff member for both sets of awards, you will need to fill out two separate nomination forms. For details on the ANU VC Teaching Awards please see the CEDAM website.
Australian Awards for University Teaching
The Australian Awards for University Teaching are administered by the Australian Learning & Teaching Council. Recipients and nominees of the ANU Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence in Education will be eligible to be nominated by the University for these national awards.
