Strange
Carolyn Strange, along with Alison Bashford (University
of Sydney) and Tina Loo (University of British Columbia),
is currently working on a book and exhibition related to
the life of Thomas Griffith Taylor (1880-1963), the founder
of the first department of geography in Australia (at Sydney)
as well as Canada's first (at the University of Toronto).
This research concerns Taylor's involvement in historic
transitions in the discipline's development, as well as
the range of research interests Taylor explored, including
geology, glaciology, ethnography, history and exploration.
