Data- based theoretical research on second language acquisition in naturalistic and instructed settings, especially second language development and in relationships between theory and data; the acquisition of German word order in instructed learners; the roles of implicit and explicit modes of second language knowledge and learning; the relationship between syntax and morphology in second language acquisition.
