Anti Virus - The ANU has site licensed SOPHOS as its primary antivirus software. Staff and students can download this software for home use at http://security.anu.edu.au/sophosinfo. Please follow the instructions provided on that site for installation.
Sophos will be installed on College computers by CASS IT staff.

Windows Vista Support - At the present time, CASS IT does not support the use of Windows Vista in the College. All new desktop computers are being purchased with Windows Vista Business licenses.

Office 2007 Support - Office 2007 is now being installed on new computers from the new image used in the College.
Opening documents created in Office 2007 - The new version of Office 2007 comes with a new file format called Microsoft Open Office XML Format (.docx). This is not compatible with older version of Microsoft Word, with other operating system or with other word processing applications. File Format Converters is a free tool that will convert the Microsoft Office .docx file format to a compatible format you can open with earlier versions of Office.

Software - Software licensing at the ANU is handled by the ANU Software Office which is responsible for negotiating and renewing all of the licenses negotiated as part of any University wide agreement, site license or bulk purchase. Licenses can be covered by agreements such as the Adobe CLP agreement or Microsoft Select agreement. Some licenses require renewing, usually on an annual basis.
